Over 100 Tehran Metro workers hold three-hour protest

10Dec15

Over 100 Tehran Metro workers held a three-hour protest demanding the payment of three months’ unpaid wages and seven months’ of overtime pay.

On December 7 over 100 workers gathered outside the Tehran Metro company’s headquarters to protest against the deplorable way the contractor treats them.

The workers demanded the payment of three months’ unpaid wages and seven months’ of overtime pay. The workers’ insurance has also not been renewed for about four months.

The Tehran Metro workers have been working for the contractor for about a year. In all of that time they have been unable to speak with a representative of the employer about any of their concerns and demands! The protesters included workers with over 12 years’ experience of working on the metro.

The protest which began at 11am came to an end at 2pm when management said they needed two days to end the workers’ problems.
