Asaluyeh detainees freed
On the evening of Tuesday January 12 the detainees who had been arrested following the protest of Asaluyeh Phases 23 and 24 workers were released.
It appears that the arrested workers were released on bail and nearly a month’s wage arrears were also paid to the workers.
In recent days the contract workers have held meetings demanding their unpaid wages but there is still no sign of their back pay.
There have been many protests by contract workers in the Asaluyeh Special Economic Zone, in Bushehr Province (southern Iran), during the past few months.
