Kian Tyre model letter

Dear Mr President

I write to bring to your attention the recent grave developments within the Iranian workers’ movement and express my deep concern about them. In particular, the special forces raid on the Kian Tyre palnt on Saturday 12 April during which the walls of the factory were smashed with bulldozers and 1000 workers were abducted.

The workers were bundled onto awaiting coaches and taken away. This special forces unit took just 10 minutes to beat up a large number of workers and effectively to kidnap all the workers at this tyre plant. No one, even their families, have any knowledge of their whereabouts.

Since the only 'crime' of the Kian Tyre workers is demanding that they be paid five months' unpaid wages, then they should be released immediately and without any conditions.

I look forward to hearing about your positive intervention in this regard in the international media.

Yours sincerely
