Abolfazl Abdini Nasr freedAccording to reports received from Iran Abolfazl Abdini Nasr, a journalist in the south-western Khuzestan province was released from Ahvaz's Karoon prison last night. Abolfazl Abdini Nasr was arrested by Intelligence Ministry agents on 13 November 2007 at the offices of Bahar-e Sabz-e Khuzestan (The Green Spring of Khuzestan). He has been charged with giving "media support" to striking workers at the Haft Tapeh Sugar Cane mill. He was release last night (17 Feb.) after a 500 million rial ($55,260) bail was pledged. A court in Ahvaz has condemned him to one year in prison for "insulting the Leader [of the Islamic Republic]". He is also due to be tried in Dezful together with a number of Haft Tapeh Sugar Cane mill workers. Iranian Workers' Solidarity Network |
