Kurdish journalist needs urgent medical attention

Ejlal Ghavami, a journalist and human rights activists in Sanandaj, has become seriously ill while serving his prison term.

Mr Ghavami, who works for Payam-e Mardom-e Kordestan (The People of Kurdistan's Message), has been held in Block 4 of Sanandaj jail together with all types of prisoners.

He now has a number of injuries which have caused an infection in his eye and around his cheek. He needs urgent medical attention but the prison authorities have so far denied him this right.
