The workers of Iran Khodro will show their support for Iran Khodro Diesel workers by not turning up for work on Saturday 9 September

Dear friends and workmates,

In order to reach their demands the workers of Iran Khodro Diesel continue their glorious strike. To this end, on Sunday [3 September] the workers once again protested and gathered in front of management and questioned them for some answers. They have said that if there is no response to their demands by Wednesday they will then gather again.

Worker friends,
Job security is an obvious right of workers.

Management have deducted the 700,000 rials [over two weeks' wages] that the Labour Ministry had added to the wages of contract workers in the new year and the workers have also been told to sign monthly contracts. The workers will not accept this blatant injustice. They want to be hired [officially] and for all temporary contracts to be revoked. They do not accept the cut in their wages. They say that with inflation as it is, it is not even possible to live on wages lower than 5 million rials. The wages of contract workers is 1.5 million rials and 100,000 rials of child bonus [legally due to all workers] has been cut from their pay.

The workers say that while the export earnings of Iran Khodro Diesel have reached billions of rials, why should management instead of paying them for increasing production (to a record level); even deduct the [official] pay rise.

Today is the day of unity and solidarity. The workers of Iran Khodro Diesel have not eaten any food for a month and their hunger strike will continue until they achieve their demands.

Now our duty as Iran Khodro workers is to give practical support to Iran Khodro Diesel workers for their demands. Let us show our solidarity by not turning up for work on Saturday 9 September - which although a holiday, has been announced as a work day by the company.

Let us show our workers' unity and solidarity by not to turn up for work.
Let us show the management of Iran Khodro that we are one family and that the demands of Iran Khodro Diesel workers are also ours.
Long live the struggle of the Iran Khodro Diesel workers.
