Strike at Iran Khodro & Diesel Company

The workers of Iran Khodro & Diesel Company have been on strike for several days and have stopped going to work and eating food.

The strike of the Iran Khodro & Diesel workers began when, after the Hillman Hunter production line was shut down, the manager of the company was faced with an excess of [labour] power and sacked up to 100 contract workers. He also demanded that the other contract workers should continue working on a piecework basis. This made the workers of the company angry and they protested. From Wednesday 22 June they stopped going to work and also went on hunger strike. The extent of the strike is such that production has stopped in most sections of the company.
